Begin with the human context

I developed Culture Matters, an interactive data story informed by semi-structured interviews, a literature review, and thematic analysis. It explores how cultural pressure, self-stigma, and language barriers relate to Chinese international students' mental health and help-seeking.

Make the information explorable

I built Mental Cares to compare international students' mental-health prevalence, depression or psychological distress by place of origin, and symptom trends over time.

The dashboard also presents campus counseling use and counselor-to-student ratios. A county-level map lets readers locate mental-health services in the United States, connecting the data story with resources they can explore.
